These awards celebrate both the individuals who have contributed to the club and the sailors who have shown improvement and excellence. Nominations are submitted by members and final decisions are made by the Sailing Committee and Board.
Please choose the award you’d like to nominate this person for from the list below. You’re welcome to submit multiple nominations, but a separate form must be completed for each nomination.
- The Dave Hogberg Encouragement Award: for adults who stand out for encouraging sailing, training and participation.
- Doug Gibbons Award: for a Junior sailor who shows exceptional integrity, sportsmanship and happily gives time back to the club.
- Duty Crew Member of the Year: member of the race committee who goes above and beyond to help deliver the sailing program throughout the year.
- Eric Johnson Memorial Junior Club Person of the Year: Substantial contribution and enthusiasm on and off the water. This bright young member will also be our Junior Captain for the next season.
- Club Person of the Year: an adult member who is helpful, enthusiastic, inspires others, and contributes substantially.
- Our Most Improved Junior Sailor and Most Improved Sailor: go to our sailors who have improved substantially and consistently throughout the season.
- Junior Sailor of the Year and Sailor of the Year: members who have sailed exceptionally well throughout the season at the Darwin Sailing Club, interstate, or at an international level, while displaying sportsmanship.

A ballot box will also be available for paper submissions. Forms, ballots, and pens will be provided on the high-top table near the bar.
